SPIRITUAL HABITS:
GOD MOMENTS

GOD MOMENTS

In the book of Deuteronomy, God gives us His blueprint for the spiritual formation of not just your kids but for the generations of your family that follows them.

Deuteronomy 6:7 tells us "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise".

Our kids need to see what it looks like to follow Jesus just as much as they need to hear what it is like. We need to be living these commandments out and showing them what a follower of Jesus looks like. Here’s the thing-you are always teaching your children something, whether you are being intentional or not. So, as parents, are we taking advantage of those seemingly mundane moments to disciple our kids? This question brings us to our next spiritual habit, God Moments.

God Moments are the opportunities that God gives every parent each day to share their faith with their kids. Here are a few things to keep in mind when you’re trying to take advantage of God Moments.

o   The first thing we need to do is be in constant prayer that God gives us the eyes to see these moments and the courage to step into them. (James 1:5)

o   Deuteronomy 6:7 gives us specific times to really be seeking these God Moments out. Bedtime, morning time, mealtime, driving our kids around…these are all amazing opportunities to share your faith with your kids in normal everyday circumstances.

o   God Moments can be big or small-things that we see every day.

o   Sunsets, stars, falling snow-these are God Moments we can share when we’re out in His Creation. Showing grace or forgiveness, serving together, watching baptisms, your child seeing you have your own devotion time-all of these are God Moments.
